JEE Advanced 2023: These last minute tips will help you prepare better
With hardly 2 weeks left for JEE Advanced 2023, students should not feel the extra pressure and should instead focus on revision without losing their focus.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati will conduct the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2023 exam on June 4, 2023. JEE Advanced is a highly competitive examination for admission into IIT and thus it is crucial to have a well-structured preparation strategy
The admit cards for the exam are yet to be released and will be published on the official website — jeeadv.ac.in.
Looking at the previous years’ pattern, the questions asked in JEE Advanced are mostly multi-concept based which not only require a solid foundation and knowledge of the subjects, but also complete con– Focus on weak areas: Aspirants must have identified their weak areas by now and need to rigorously focus on them (including all the subjects) during the first week. This can be done by at least solving 10 problems from previous year papers. The remaining days must be utilised for revision of all the concepts which have been prepared till now.
– Focus on NCERT books: In the last few days of preparations, it is not advised to refer to other books than NCERT, as the revised syllabus also allows an ease of access.
– Practice as many mock tests: While revision is important, going through various mock tests is also essential to improve speed and accuracy in the actual exam. There have been additions of several topics and concepts in physics. In Chemistry, ‘nuclear chemistry’ has been removed and a few more changes have been made to topics in ‘biochemistry’ and ‘physical chemistry’. In mathematics, ‘Harmonic Progression (HP)’ and ‘solution of triangles’ have been removed with addition of topics like statistics, Algebra, and quadratic equations.
Some of the important topics with high scoring potentials in each subject are as follows:
Physics – Optics, Electricity and Magnetism, Kinematics and Particle dynamics, Fluids, Heat & Thermodynamics, Waves and Sound, Capacitors & Electrostatics, Magnetics, Electromagnetic Induction, Optics and Modern Physics. Various experts claim that mechanics is the least scoring topic, yet covers a major portion. Thus, in terms of number of questions asked, mechanics and electricity & magnetism are the most important ones.
Chemistry – Qualitative Analysis, Coordination Chemistry & Chemical Bonding in Inorganic Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Thermodynamics, Chemical Equilibrium in Physical Chemistry and Organic Chemistry complete as a topic specifically with name reactions. It is essential to give special attention on chapters which are of prime importance like Electrochemistry, Thermodynamics, Coordination Chemistry, Chemical bonding, and surface chemistry.
Mathematics – Vectors & 3D Geometry, Complex Numbers, Statistics, Probability, Functions, Limits, Continuity and Differentiability, Application of Derivatives, Definite Integral in Calculus, Quadratic Equations & Expressions, Matrices in Algebra; Circle, Parabola, Hyperbola in Coordinate Geometry. The only one way to do well in Mathematics is to practice problems, keeping in mind the pattern of questions asked in previous years’ papers.
